Whether you’re giving a smartphone as a gift or buying one for yourself, you can’t buy the phone, sign up for the plan and think you’ve got everything necessary to get the most from the smartphone experience. Nor should you think that a case and a charger are all the peripherals you need. At some point, a smartphone owner will wish they had five often-overlooked peripherals. Get them from the start, so you don’t have to scramble to find them later on.

A Printer

A printer is commonly associated with a desktop or laptop computer. The typical smartphone owner doesn’t immediately think of a printer. Consider the phone store where you’re likely to buy your smartphone; if there are printers for sale at all, they’re probably hidden out of the way on a lower shelf. However, there will be times when you need a paper record of something. Perhaps you see a coupon and you need a paper copy instead of showing your smartphone. Maybe you’re checking your email and an important contract requires your signature came in, but you don’t have a way to print it out.

The Wi-Fi printer is versatile. You connect it to your PC, tablet and smartphone. So if a must-print item shows up on your smartphone, it’s a matter of being in range of your printer and clicking “print.”

Ink

If you recognize the importance of owning a printer for your smartphone, the next most important peripheral is printer ink. There are few things more annoying than having an important document to print and discovering your ink is low. Keep a small stock of your printer’s ink cartridges available so that never happens.

Screen Protector

With touch-face interfaces, smartphones offer an immersive phone and Internet experience. However, a touch-face interface is also responsible for the user covering a smartphone screen with smudges and scratches from frequent use. Scratching the screen too much could lead to costly smartphone repair or replacement.

Proactive smartphone owners equip their smartphones with screen protectors so their phones last longer. Look for one made for your model or one with dimensions that fit your screen size.

Screen Wipes

Whether or not you opt for a screen protector, keep a stash of screen wipes. Dust, fingerprints, smudges and crumbs come in contact with smartphones. If you clean it with anything but a microfiber cloth, you could cause more scratches. Using water or general cleaners warp phones and cause permanent damage. You need a wipe especially designed for a smartphone. Keeping your smartphone clean increases the phone’s life.

Even if you use a screen protector, it’s a smart idea to keep screen wipes. Remove the screen protector on occasion and clean the screen beneath it, since dust may have gotten trapped underneath. You can also use the screen wipes to clean the rest of the phone.

Memory Cards

If your smartphone uses memory cards to store data, buy an extra memory card or two. If you frequently take pictures or record videos, your phone’s internal memory or default memory card fills up fast. If you’re headed on vacation or to an event at which you plan on taking photos and videos, you may find the phone filling up sooner than expected.

Having extra memory cards also helps you protect your data. After you fill up a card, remove and store the card at home or upload its data to a computer. If you lose your smartphone or if your phone is stolen, you won’t have lost your record of those memories.

A printer, ink for the printer, a screen protector, screen wipes and memory cards are overlooked smartphone peripherals. Take the proactive approach and buy them as soon as you buy a new smartphone. If one day you need them and plan ahead, you’ll be scrambling to buy them — and you may not get the best deal.

A VPN is a Virtual Private Network. They are common in offices but are also quite useful for personal use. Creating one can accomplish many different things, but chiefly you will be able to surf the internet on your own private network. This means that with a VPN you will be able to access your files from anywhere, you can to collaborate with friends and colleagues across your network, and you will be able to browse privately and securely. VPNs are also free or near free and are generally easy to set up. They can also be set up on mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad.
To build your own VPN, you only need your home computer, or any other computer and a reliable internet provider like, Clear Internet service to act as a server. This computer should alwaysbe powered on. If you don’t have a host computer, you can also subscribe to VPN hosting service. You will also need the computer(s) that you want on your network. Lastly, you need a VPN client and a strong broadband connection.

Get a VPN Client: You need VPN software to begin the process. The Windows operating system ships preloaded with one, Agile. If your computer does not have VPN software, there are several clients such as OpenVPN available for download that offer safe encryption and good speeds.

Install the VPN software on your server: On the computer that you want to use as a server, open the software that you have decided to use, be it Agile, OpenVPN or another. Make sure to have your IP address on hand; that information should be available in your network settings. When you run the software, it should lead you through the installation process. The process should lead you to create a new network, give it a name, and set a password.

Install the VPN client on the computer you wish to use. Run the software on the computer you wish to use and find the option that allows you to join an existing network. Choose the network you’ve created and log in using the network name and password that you have already created. That’s it. Now your computer and however many other computers you may wish to add to your network, can access each other from anywhere, as if they are all on the same local network.

There are a few drawbacks as running a VPN can use a lot of bandwidth and slow down upload and download speeds. But, the advantages are much stronger. You have just essentially created a tunnel to the internet, and that accomplishes many things. Your VPN can route your traffic in a way that disguises your IP address, the number that identifies your computer, and it can encrypt your internet traffic as well. This makes it so that neither an Internet Service Provider nor censoring software can see what an individual user may be doing online. You can also turn your new VPN into a proxy to surf the internet securely on public networks. Of course, you can share photos, videos, and music too on your new private network.

Cleanliness, being the first priority for the children, Lifebuoy has come up with an awesome campaign called “Help Every Children Reach 5th Birthday”. They have come up with a video campaign with an very touching video of a small village with a person called “Gondappa’ and his child.

In one scene, an ant confronts him, rather than crushing it, he stops for the ant to pass. The makers of the video wants to send a clear signal that they value life; in this case an ant’s life. In the mean while, a bus passes from the nearby road. In the bus, a woman out of sheer curiosity asks the conductor to stop the bus and moves towards the crowd to check what’s going on. She questions a man, but he says her to follow the crowd. She follows the man silently, but still has many questions in her mind. As the man heads towards a temple, an old priest welcomes him and offers him water. As he reaches the temple, he gets down on his feat and holds his kid close. He tells the priest that his son is now 5 years old.

There are large number of childrens dieing of diarrhea and hence Lifebuoy has taken up the task of making sure, they maintain the cleanliness and make every child reach their 5th Birthday. The south indian video shows a very clear image of the rural background of India, still an Essence of Love and care for children.

InMobi released a study regarding mobile media consumption and what consumers are doing. If you have ignored the need to start up a mobile site, this study should convince you to get started immediately.

Mobile phones: What People are Using them For

About 75% of polled individuals said they were introduced to a new concept, product, service or something else while using their mobile device. Each day consumers find new apps, games, and websites with their smartphones. While traveling or in a new city, someone is apt to use their phone navigation more often to find a place to eat, shop, and stay.

According to the data received from 15,000 users, about 59% are comfortable with mobile advertising. In fact, they are as comfortable as they have been with TV and desktop based Internet advertising. This is on a global scale. About 80% of those polled stated they would plan to utilize their mobile phones for purchases within the next year.

The statistics are quite clear regarding your need to create mobile website options for consumers. As laptops and desktops start to gather dust, more people are turning to their cellphones for all of their digital needs. If they turn their computer off for the night, they may grab their phone to surf the Internet more or to purchase a product they saw advertised on the TV. Watching TV programs can inspire questions like who the actress/actor is or what the person was in. Grabbing for their phone is an easy way to get the answer. Family and friends sit around at gatherings searching for ringtones to assign each other or simply to share what their device can do.

Design help

If you have concerns on how to create mobile website platforms, there is help. Begin by finding a platform you can easily use to generate a website template for mobile devices. Like the templates for standard web pages, these platforms make it easy to assign different resolutions, sizes, and features to your mobile page. They essentially walk you through what you need to do to get a basic site uploaded.

Hiring professionals to design and upload your website is another choice. For those who are not technically savvy, getting help is usually the simplest method. It saves you time and ensures the page will launch perfectly. However, mobile web design can get expensive, depending on the size and scope of the project.

More ‘Flash,’ Less Text

Current trends have mobile websites with more “flash” graphics and little text. Content when you create mobile website solutions is not as important. It is helpful, but studies show most mobile users want to get to the site, log in or find what they need and log off. For example, if someone is shopping for a wireless route,r they may visit a local store then Google the product to see if the price is comparative across the board or if they should get it at the store. Another consumer might look for mobile coupons to use in the store. Several of the large retailers will take the mobile coupon, scan it from the phone, and allow its use ensuring the consumer gets the discount they wish to have.

A Problem for Gamers

Remember when video games were a group experience unmarred by activation codes, player fees and subscriptions? While today’s slathering of online options is definitely a new way to experience multiplayer video game action, there are some issues with the way the video game industry has set up its services. That includes the one-time-use-only activation codes that come with new video games and are required for online access.

What problem do activation codes pose for hardcore gamers? Activation codes amp up the price for game enthusiasts who are looking for good deals on older and used video game. A new game, which will run you about $60, is too steep a fee for gamers who play games all the time. If you’re running through a game or more per month, games will cost you at least $720 per year, and that’s not including taxes and other extras.

To avoid this high cost of gaming, gamers have gone the frugal route for years. They buy used games after their original release. That way, gamers can play the same great games at others at a fraction of the original price, without having to sacrifice anything – until now. Once the gaming industry realized how popular used games were becoming, they decided to cut into that profit. The gaming industry designed a barrier to ensure that used gamers would not get the full new-game experience. The gaming industry took a bite into gamers’ wallets by limiting online play.

Online play is a great way to remotely play games with your friends or with others. Online gaming has developed into its own niche within the gaming industry. Just a few years ago you could go online and challenge your friends in online play using any version of a game you may have. That’s not the case today.

New games come with unique activation codes that allow online play. These codes can only be used once. So, the used gamer who gets the hand-me-down version of a new game is limited. Of course the gaming industry came up with a “solution” which doesn’t even solve the original problem. And, of course, it involves money. You can buy activation codes for certain games – but at a cost. You can usually buy an activation code for your used game for about $15. But if you calculate the activation code cost into the price of the used game, you’re already paying the same as what the new game costs. Not really a savings to buy a used game then.

A Bright Side

Although you probably won’t see gaming companies revert to the old gaming format where there is unlimited online access on games, you may see something similarly exciting. Platforms are starting to move to mobile. What does this mean for you? It means you may be able to download content directly to your gaming system. Though this is already available, hardcore gamers may see some exciting options. A possibility? Game rentals with online access included.
