Apple announces new iMac: 5mm thick, coming this November

After an announcement of 13-inch MacBook Pro, Apple now has announced its new iMac refreshing the Mac computers. Phil Schiller called it the “flagship of the product line”. Pointing towards the 5mm edge, Phil said,”There’s an entire computer in there”. Apple used a technique called friction stir welding to create the new machine, which it says has much less reflection than previous displays.

Available in 27-inch and 21.5-inch displays both the iMacs has 178-degree viewing angles. The 21.5-inch iMac sports 2.7GHz quad-core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, GeForce GT 640M graphics and 1TB HDD. While the 27.5-inch iMac sports 2.9GHz quad-core i5 processors, 8GB of RAM, GeForce GTX 660M Graphics and 1TB HDD. The new iMacs uses up to 50% less power when idling. The new iMacs will comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse.

The smaller version will start shipping next month for $1299 and the 27.5-incher iMac will ship in December for $1799.
